Where it usually pays
Internal search over the files you already have. First drafts of routine email. Summaries of long vendor PDFs. Meeting notes that someone still has to check. None of that requires pasting a client file into a consumer chatbot.
Where it usually does not pay: “we need an AI strategy” with no workflow attached, or a custom model when Microsoft 365 Copilot (or a locked-down tenant tool) would have been enough. We will say that.
Guardrails we actually write down
- What may leave the tenant (and what is a firing offense)
- Which accounts are allowed — not every employee’s personal ChatGPT
- How long prompts and outputs are retained
- Who owns the vendor contract and the off-switch
That policy is useless if identity and backups are a mess. In that case the first engagement is fractional CIO or managed IT, and we will tell you so on the discovery call.
How the work is scoped
A short discovery (one or two days of interviews, not a six-week assessment) and a written list of three uses, max. Then we help turn the first one on inside a tenant you control. No lab. No demo environment you cannot afford to keep.

You are already fielding “can we just use ChatGPT.” We give you a policy and a sanctioned tool, not another shadow IT fight.

Questions we get
Will you install ChatGPT for the office?
We will tell you whether a model should touch that workflow at all, and which vendor is allowed to see the data. Shadow ChatGPT accounts are usually the problem, not the lack of a logo.
Is this instead of managed IT?
No. If the tenant, backups, or identity are a mess, that is vCIO or incident response. We will say so.
